Structural changes and future directions

September 30, 2024

Centurions! Today, we gather to discuss significant structural changes within our committee and the recent updates in the Centurion format.

A special thanks to Lorenzo and Daniele

With heartfelt gratitude and a touch of nostalgia, we bid farewell to two key figures in our journey: Lorenzo Pietrangeli and Daniele Arciero officially leave the committee. From the very beginning, Lorenzo has played an essential role in the establishment, development, and growth of Centurion, contributing his vision, dedication, and passion. Daniele has been a vital member of our community, supporting us for quite some time and helping achieve the positive results we celebrate today. We cannot thank them enough for their tireless commitment, which has left an indelible mark on both the community and the format. Although they are stepping away from the committee, we know their love for the game and the community will keep them close. We wish them all the best and hope to see them back in the battlegrounds soon!

Welcome to Matteo Lorenzini

The committee has a flexible structure that can adapt over time to meet our needs, without a fixed number of members or roles. With countless tasks at hand, we have been fortunate to have Matteo Lorenzini’s support in recent months. We are pleased to officially announce that Matteo Lorenzini is joining the committee, having been at the forefront of promoting the format for years, demonstrating exemplary passion and commitment.

Committee Structure and Roles

  • Emiliano Bandini, Moderation Manager: oversees social media platforms, fostering a positive and constructive environment for the community.
  • Federico Perno, National Coordinator: manages the organization of all community coordinators, ensuring the health of various local groups.
  • Francesco Vitale, Technical Staff Supervisor: ensures effective communication among all committee members, optimizing and monitoring different activities.
  • Giovanni Galamini, Innovation and Development Manager: researches and implements new ideas and people to enhance the Centurion project.
  • Jonathan Quarantiello, External Tournament Activities Coordinator: facilitates contact and coordination with tournament organizers, ensuring good communication and collaboration.
  • Matteo Lorenzini, Strategic Planning Manager: supervises and coordinates organizational activities to enable the growth of the format.
  • Paolo Villa, Tournament Circuit Manager: organizes and manages the tournament circuit, ensuring well-structured and well-attended events.
  • Valentino Manicone, Data Management Lead: handles the collection, analysis, and presentation of data related to the game, events, and communities, contributing to the continuous improvement of the format.

In addition to these primary responsibilities, committee members also take on secondary tasks to ensure the success of all aspects of the format. While not detailed here for simplicity, these tasks include various administrative, outreach, and community engagement activities.

New Opportunities

Last summer saw significant changes leading to a restructuring of the entire Centurion organizational system to focus efforts on the Italian community. However, Centurion transcends Italian borders, and we must acknowledge the importance of all international communities actively participating in our format. Today, we are excited to announce our three new regional coordinators outside Italy and their ID on Discord:

  • Fabian Matijaca, @t0mbsfm for Croatia
  • Jakub Kopčanský, @afflicti for the Czech Republic
  • Daniil Zaitsev, @avel_extra for Russia

We remind you that players outside Italy have requested a space to engage with the rest of the community, and since our Facebook group is predominantly Italian, we are also utilizing our new Discord server.

A look ahead

We have made important contacts that could pave the way for new opportunities for Centurion, particularly in the digital realm. Without delving into specifics, we can say that interest in our community is palpable, and we are working to make the format more accessible and recognized. Centurion exists primarily to provide all players wanting to play 1 vs 1 Commander with the best gaming experience possible, starting with the banlist. The growth and support from players remain crucial for the long-term success of the format. The upcoming months will be vital to demonstrating the strength and passion of our community, both in Italy and beyond.
We hope to share more news with you soon! As always, we are here for all players and remind you that you can contact us directly through various channels:
