MARCH 2022 RULES/BANNED AND RESTRICTED UPDATE [ENG/ITA]

[ENG]

Legionaries,

Five months have passed since our last update, we have had the opportunity to observe the increasing number of events taking place week after week, and we are pleased with the growing interest from the Italian and foreign communities in our format.

Over the past few years, we've seen the huge amount of news that Wizards of the Coast has brought to Commander, and the drastic increase in the number of playable sets and commanders have helped make Centurion Commander one of the most dynamic eternal formats ever.

The mechanics that allow you to have more than one commander are proposed with increasing frequency, demonstrating that for WotC these dynamics must be common practice (Friends Forever and Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful). “Partner” is now being offered to us with increasing frequency.

We have always had a careful approach to mechanics, targeting problematic partners for the balance of the format. Despite this, we believe that this "modus operandi" will soon no longer be optimal for managing this growing number of couples in the Command Zone, and it will force us to intervene more and more frequently. Therefore, we have decided to approach the management of these issues in a different way to offer greater stability to the community, limiting our interventions to the minimum necessary.

With today's update, we're announcing a rule change that aims to limit the advantage that having more than one card in the Command Zone provides.

RULES CHANGE

The following rules will be updated and posted on this site over the

following week.

Before:

903.8. A player may cast a commander they own from the command zone. A commander cast from the command zone costs an additional {2} for each previous time the player casting it has cast it from the command zone that game. This additional cost is informally known as the “commander tax.”

Now:

903.8/Centurion. A player may cast a commander they own from the command zone. A commander cast from the command zone costs an additional {2} for each previous time the player casting it has already cast A COMMANDER SPELL from the command zone that game. This additional cost is informally known as the “commander tax.”

UNBAN

- Library of Alexandria

- Tymna the Weaver

- Thrasios, Triton Hero

- Jeska, Thrice Reborn

- Kraum, Ludevic's Opus

BANNED AS A PARTNER

-Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful

Explanation:

Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful

With the introduction of the 903.8 / C rule, Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful's impact will be less noticeable, yet he will still establish himself as one of the best one-mana commanders in the format. Therefore, we have decided to ban Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful as a partner to preserve the diversity of aggressive strategies thus limiting their impact through access to additional colors.

Tymna the Weaver, Thrasios, Triton Hero, Kraum, Ludevic's Opus & Jeska, Thrice Reborn

With the introduction of rule 903.8 / C, we have decided to carry out a controlled and gradual release of the commanders previously present in the banlist. Following a long period of testing we have decided to reintroduce the following partners, as their impact on game timing is limited in this new context. Tymna the Weaver, Thrasios, Triton Hero, Jeska, Thrice Reborn and Kraum, Ludevic's Opus are now legal as partners.

Library of Alexandria

With the introduction of the 25 life points, this card presents itself in a faster and more dynamic game context, in which to make the most of its effect you have to give up fundamental interactions during the first turns of the game. Therefore, since its use is situational and effective only in some dedicated builds, Library of Alexandria is now available again.

This update will be effective from Monday 7 March 2022.

Legionari,

- Jeska, Thrice Reborn

- Kraum, Ludevic's Opus

BANNED AS A PARTNER

-Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful

Explanation:

Yoshimaru, Ever Faithful

Tymna the Weaver, Thrasios, Triton Hero, Kraum, Ludevic's Opus & Jeska, Thrice Reborn

Tymna the Weaver, Thrasios, Triton Hero, Jeska, Thrice Reborn e Kraum, Ludevic's Opus sono ora legali come partner.

Library of Alexandria
