Structure
This year, the new tournament structure will be OPEN and divided into seasons.
The new system will include Local Leagues, Level 1 Tournaments and Level 2 Tournaments (Big Events), which will mark the game seasons. At the end of the last season of the year, a concluding event will be held, consisting of two tournaments:
-
- Level 3: Player of the Year. An exclusive invitation-only event with a total of 48 slots.
-
- National: Open to all players.
Local Leagues and the National League Ranking
Local Leagues will play a crucial role within the circuit. Each community can establish its own League. Throughout the season, they must present a minimum of 8 players per event and hold at least 6 stages during the season.
Competing within your own League will provide the opportunity to climb the national ranking, which includes all other players in the format participating in the championship.
The score in the national ranking is based on the results achieved in your own League. Each stage will have its own score expressed as a percentage, calculated according to the following formula:
[Wins + (Ties / 3)] / Turns
For each player, the average of their best 6 scores obtained during the season will be considered.
In order to be able to help, promote and coordinate Leagues and events, we ask each interested reality to indicate us a community representative in order to be able to include him in our Coordinators Staff. Each event, in order to be considered valid within the circuit, requires a report on the Centurion Facebook group, including ranking and metagame, decklist link on Moxfield of the top decks, a photo of the said tournament and the compilation of the tournament format distributed by us.
Any organization meeting these requirements can request inclusion in the circuit.
The membership fee for a league consists of 1€ per different player taking part in the season regardless of the number of stages played. This fee will be valid for the whole season (new fees are taken each season) and will be paid in the manner to be indicated. Memberships will be cumulated for the Player of the Year prize pool.
Level 1
LEVEL 1 tournaments are aimed at taking players to compete outside their own community, to compete against other players scattered all over Italy.
These tournaments allow the top 8 to obtain a score based on the number of participants and the position obtained in the tournament. This allows players to climb the ranking list for this type of event and obtain a BYE for the LEVEL 2 tournament.
The points obtained from the tournament are allocated in this way:
17-32 players | 33-64 players | >64 player |
1: 25 points 2: 18 points 3: 15 points 4: 13 points 5: 10 points 6: 8 points 7: 6 points 8: 4 points |
1: 27 points 2: 20 points 3: 17 points 4: 15 points 5: 12 points 6: 10 points 7: 8 points 8: 6 points |
1: 30 points 2: 23 points 3: 20 points 4: 18 points 5: 15 points 6: 13 points 7: 11 points 8: 9 points |
Collecting 6 top8s in these tournaments allows you to get a BYE at the National.
Level 2 (Big Events)
The Big Events will mark the playing seasons. As they are the biggest events from a numerical point of view, they will grant BYEs to the end-of-year National Tournament (open): 2 BYEs to the first classified, 1 BYE to the second.
Should there be more than 128 players, the entire top8 will receive one BYE for the National, with the exception of the first placed player who will still receive two BYEs.
Players who place in the top 4 positions in these tournaments will be directly qualified for LEVEL 3 (Player of the year, by invitation only).
The BYE system
The path to reach a BYE for Level 2 is as illustrated by the image above. Players can accumulate up to 3 BYEs per season but these can only be spent within the event when a certain number of players are reached according to this scheme:
-
- 64-72 players: 1 BYE
-
- 73-128 players: 2 BYE
-
- over 128 players: 3 BYE
As for the national league ranking, BYEs will also be awarded to the top players based on the number of participants in the event:
-
- 64-72 players: top 5 players in the national rankings (max two players per league) + players who have achieved BYE from LEVELS 1\
- 73-89 players: top 6 players in the national rankings (max two players per league) + players who have achieved BYE from LEVELS 1
- 90-128 players: top 7 players in the national ranking (max two players per league) + players who have achieved BYE from LEVELS 1
- over 128 players: top 8 players in the national ranking (max two players per league) + players who have BYE from LEVELS 1
Qualifications for Level 3 (Player of the Year)
Level 3 (Player of the Year) will be held the day before the Nationals and will see the 48 best players of the season clash.
Participation in this event will be by invitation only, free of charge, and there are 3 ways to access it:
-
- Earning the title of League Representative.
Each League will be able to propose one player as a representative at the Player of the Year (regardless of the Leagues’ seasonal national rankings). Leagues with an average of more than 16 players will be entitled to a second slot. Each participating League may independently manage its own representatives to the Player of the Year, as long as the chosen person(s) have played at least half of the year’s stages.
- Earning the title of League Representative.
-
- Rank in the top 4 positions in LEVEL 2 tournaments (Big Events).
-
- Compete in the ranking of LEVEL 1.
The aim is to have the presence of all 48 players, so in the case of withdrawals we reserve the right to draw from the players present in the ranking of LEVEL 1 tournaments.
