How does the Centurion Championship work?

You can find the complete details about the 2025 Centurion League in this article.
National Leaderboard
The National Leaderboard, alongside Level 2 tournaments, is the main way to earn an invitation to the prestigious Player of the Year (POTY). This leaderboard connects competitive circuit activities, offering a clear and continuous overview of players’ performances. With annual validity and no resets between seasons, it is a constant indicator of excellence.
Earn points for the leaderboard by participating in:
- Level 1 tournaments.
- Recognized local leagues: At the end of each season, players receive points based on their final position in the league and its average attendance. Further details are explained in the dedicated section.
At the end of the year, the top 16 players in the national leaderboard will receive an exclusive invitation to the prestigious POTY tournament. The leaderboard is not just a recognition of skill but also a tool to motivate players to compete consistently, rewarding their efforts throughout the circuit and celebrating the format’s most successful players.
Leagues
Participating in a league allows players to accumulate points to climb the national leaderboard and qualify for the POTY. At the end of the season, the top 8 players in each league will receive points based on the following scheme, which varies depending on the number of unique players:
8-16 players | 17-32 players | 33-64 players | >64 players |
1st: 44 points 2nd: 30 points 3rd: 24 points 4th: 20 points 5th: 14 points 6th: 10 points 7th: 8 points 8th: 6 points | 1st: 50 points 2nd: 36 points 3rd: 30 points 4th: 26 points 5th: 20 points 6th: 16 points 7th: 12 points 8th: 8 points | 1st: 54 points 2nd: 40 points 3rd: 34 points 4th: 30 points 5th: 24 points 6th: 20 points 7th: 16 points 8th: 12 points | 1st: 60 points 2nd: 46 points 3rd: 40 points 4th: 36 points 5th: 30 points 6th: 26 points 7th: 22points 8th: 18 points |
LEVEL 1
Level 1 tournaments are designed to encourage players to step out of their local scenes and compete against others across Italy. These events provide an opportunity to test skills and climb the national ranking, with a scoring system that rewards top performances.
Points are distributed as follows for the top 8 (if the final rounds are not played, the top 8 standings at the end of the Swiss rounds will be considered):
8-16 players | 17-32 players | 33-64 players | >64 players |
1st: 22 points 2nd: 15 points 3rd: 12 points 4th: 10 points 5th: 7 points 6th: 5 points 7th: 4 points 8th: 3 points | 1st: 25 points 2nd: 18 points 3rd: 15 points 4th: 13 points 5th: 10 points 6th: 8 points 7th: 6 points 8th: 4 points | 1st: 27 points 2nd: 20 points 3rd: 17 points 4th: 15 points 5th: 12 points 6th: 10 points 7th: 8 points 8th: 6 points | 1st: 30 points 2nd: 23 points 3rd: 20 points 4th: 18 points 5th: 15 points 6th: 13 points 7th: 11 points 8th: 9 points |
Additional POTY Slots
This year, we have decided to reserve extra slots for players from outside Italy, as explained in this article.
Participating nations will be allocated extra slots for the POTY in addition to the 32 reserved for Italy. These slots will be distributed according to the following criteria:
- One extra slot for each league: each completed league will entitle one slot if at least one season is completed meeting the criteria set forth in the rules.
- One extra slot for every four Level 1 tournaments organized in that nation.
International communities interested in joining the circuit must comply with the same league and Level 1 tournament requirements currently in place for Italy.
