Centurion Championship 2025

December 30, 2024

We are thrilled to present the new competitive circuit for this year. Our community is the beating heart of the format, and every decision has been inspired by the desire to enhance the gaming experience for all of you. Thanks to ongoing dialogue with players, coordinators, and enthusiasts, we’ve gathered invaluable feedback and worked to create a system that is more inclusive, accessible, and engaging.

Your suggestions, advice, and critiques have been warmly welcomed and carefully considered.

Here is the 2025 project.

How Does the Circuit Work?

Season 1 (January 1 – May 31)

– Local Leagues
– Level 1
– Level 2

Season 2 (June 1 – November 30)

– Local Leagues
– Level 1
– Level 2

Grand Final Event – Championship Finale (December)

Player Of The Year (day 1): entry by qualification (Top 8 from Level 2 + Top 16 from the national leaderboard), 32 players.
National Championship (day 2): open entry.

Main updates and features:

  1. No more bye rewards: the circuit is now focused on earning qualification for an exclusive, free-entry tournament.
  2. Official recognition of local leagues: communities interested in joining the circuit can do so through officially recognized leagues.
  3. Two annual seasons: the annual seasons have been reduced from three to two, giving leagues with limited opportunities more time to compete. Seasons are used exclusively to organize leagues. At the end of each season, players earn leaderboard points based on their standings, as explained later.
  4. Expanded accessibility for Level 1 events: the minimum participant requirement is reduced to 8 players, making it easier for all communities to organize events..
  5. National Leaderboard: valid for a full year without resets at the end of a season. It aggregates points earned through official leagues (first and second seasons) and Level 1 tournaments held throughout the year. At the end of the circuit, the top 16 players in the national leaderboard will receive an exclusive invitation to the POTY (Player of the Year).
  6. Level 2 tournaments: there will be two major events during the year, with the respective Top 8 earning qualification for the POTY..
  7. Two-day finale: the championship’s final event will span two days
    • Day 1: POTY – An invitation-only tournament for 32 players. 16 players qualify through the Top 8 of the two Level 2 events, and 16 players qualify through the national leaderboard.
    • Day 2: National Open – An event open to all players, with no qualifications required, where everyone can compete for the title.

The National Leaderboard

The National Leaderboard, alongside Level 2 tournaments, is the main way to earn an invitation to the prestigious Player of the Year (POTY). This leaderboard connects competitive circuit activities, offering a clear and continuous overview of players’ performances. With annual validity and no resets between seasons, it is a constant indicator of excellence.

Earn points for the leaderboard by participating in:

  • Level 1 tournaments.
  • Recognized local leagues: At the end of each season, players receive points based on their final position in the league and its average attendance. Further details are explained in the dedicated section.

At the end of the year, the top 16 players in the national leaderboard will receive an exclusive invitation to the prestigious POTY tournament. The leaderboard is not just a recognition of skill but also a tool to motivate players to compete consistently, rewarding their efforts throughout the circuit and celebrating the format’s most successful players.

Leagues

Local leagues will play a significant role in the circuit. Any interested community can establish an officially recognized league by meeting the following minimum requirements:

  • A minimum of 8 players per event.
  • At least 9 events during the season.

Participating in a league allows players to accumulate points to climb the national leaderboard and qualify for the POTY. At the end of the season, the top 8 players in each league will receive points based on the following scheme, which varies depending on the number of unique players:

8-16 players17-32 players33-64 players>64 players
1st: 44 points
2nd: 30 points
3rd: 24 points
4th: 20 points

8th: 18 points

Leagues can join the circuit by adhering to these requirements. A seasonal participation fee of €1 per unique player (regardless of the number of events played) will be used entirely to increase the POTY prize pool.

To facilitate organization, we ask each interested group to contact us and designate a community representative who will be added to our Staff of Coordinators. This representative will serve as the point of contact to promote, coordinate, and manage the League, as well as ensure compliance with the requirements.

For an event to be considered valid within the circuit, it must be accompanied by a report published in the official Centurion Facebook group. To simplify this process, the representative will receive a personalized spreadsheet that:

  • Automatically adds players to the national ranking without any additional steps;
  • Provides a ready-to-publish report for Facebook with no extra work required.

Thanks to last year’s experience, this tool ensures quick and hassle-free management..

Level 1

Level 1 tournaments are designed to encourage players to step out of their local scenes and compete against others across Italy. These events provide an opportunity to test skills and climb the national ranking, with a scoring system that rewards top performances.

Points are distributed as follows for the top 8 (if the final rounds are not played, the top 8 standings at the end of the Swiss rounds will be considered):

8-16 players17-32 players33-64 players>64 players
1st: 22 points

5th: 15 points
6th: 13 points
7th: 11 points
8th: 9 points

Any group interested in organizing a Level 1 tournament can contact us privately to be included in the official calendar. This step is essential to avoid scheduling conflicts and ensure balanced geographical distribution while allowing us to adequately promote the tournaments.

A €1 fee will be required for each player participating in a Level 1 tournament. This contribution will go entirely towards the POTY prize pool.

For an event to be considered valid within the circuit, it must be accompanied by a report published in the official Centurion Facebook group. To simplify this process, the tournament organizer (or their delegate) will receive a personalized spreadsheet. Once filled in with the tournament standings, it will automatically generate a report ready to copy and paste into the Facebook group.

Level 2

Level 2 tournaments are a key element of the competitive circuit, designed to offer high-level challenges and a highly competitive environment. These events allow players to qualify directly for the POTY, providing an alternative path to the national ranking. Participating in a Level 2 event is the perfect opportunity to prove your worth against the best players and secure access to the POTY, enjoying a prestigious and immersive gaming experience.

There will be two Level 2 events, marking the end of the first season (May 31) and the second season (November 30).

The entire top 8 of each event will qualify for the POTY.

Final Event

The two-day structure that defined last year’s circuit finale was met with great enthusiasm. For this reason, we will maintain it this year as well, offering an event that is not only a competition but also a chance to celebrate the format and our community together.

Day One: POTY (Player of the Year)

The POTY will be reserved for the 32 Centurions who have proven their skill throughout the year. They will compete for the title of the best player and the coveted prize!

How to qualify:

  • 16 players from the top 8 of the Level 2 events.
  • 16 players from the national ranking (Leagues + Level 1 events).

Players who do not qualify can still participate in the side event, refining their strategies and preparing for the next day’s competition.

Qualification Overlaps

If, at the end of the season, a player in the national ranking has already obtained an invitation through a Level 2 event, the qualification will pass to the first unqualified player in the ranking.

If, at the end of the second season, a player who already received an invitation during the previous season earns another qualification via a Level 2 event, the qualification will go to the highest-ranked unqualified player starting from 9th place after the Swiss rounds, before the top 8 is played.

Like last year, if a qualified player cannot participate, we will consider the next available player in the leadearboard from the 17th place onward to fill the spot.

Day Two: NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The second day will be dedicated to the National Tournament, an open event with no restrictions. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer to the format, you’ll have the chance to participate, test your skills, and compete for the title.
